Welcome Art Lovers!
The Blue Ridge Fine Arts Guild (BRAG) has been formed with the primary goal or mission to Promote the works and activities of artists working in two-dimensional media in Yancey and Mitchell counties. To be an avenue for education and exposure through programs, workshops, exhibitions and this web site. We seek to promote and encourage the arts among its members, local schools and the public.
Our "Members Artwork" Our "Members Artwork" section is being updated. We hope to have all our artists included very soon. The latest artist to be listed is DeJarnette Wood.
February Subject is Cabin(s)
Here is how it works. Every month there will be a subject drawing. You will then take that subject, and using your interpretation/perception of the subject, and whatever technique you wish create a work of art. Some of the subjects are vague, and some will be more specific. Use of different mediums, supports, styles, and techniques are encouraged, but not a requirement for the Challenge. If there is a subject you would like placed in the drawing notify me before the next drawing and Jennifer Bennett will make sure it’s in the “hat”. The Creative Challenge is not a contest or competition. No one will be judging you. There are no winners, no losers. The Challenge is just colleagues trying out new things, supporting one another, and most importantly; having Fun. The items you bring to the meetings do not have to be perfect. They can be anything you want. Rough sketches, unfinished painting, etc…. or you can do the challenge at home, and not bring anything in. The most important aspect of the Challenge is doing the activity. Now for the technical aspects of the Challenge. The Creative Challenge is open to all current members of the Guild. Participation is encouraged, but is voluntary. (It is not a requirement of membership). There is a size limit. Work can be up to 16”x20”. Bring one piece for the Challenge at every meeting for discussion , remember this is NOT a contest. At least a week before the next meeting notify Jennifer Bennett about the size, and support you will be bringing for display purposes.
