Carol W. Bailey
" I tend to paint intuitively, often not sure what a painting is about until long after it's completed. It tends to be a process of continued learning about myself- - of questioning why and how it evolved. My hope is to convey my sense of wonder at how light reveals form. Through the utilization of contrast, color unity, pattern and disappearing / reappearing edges, I focus intently on developing a composition that celebrates the real surface of the planet earth". Carol earned both her B.F.A. and M.A. degrees from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She served 22 years as a studio art teacher in public schools in Ohio. She served 20 years as the Art Department Chair at a large comprehensive high school where she taught drawing, painting, design, art metals and Advanced Placement Studio Art. She moved to this area of western North Carolina upon retirement, attracted by the climate, scenery, Appalachian culture and arts community.
